The Girls Gun Wild (GGW) Program is a multi-discipline shooting program designed to empower girls and woman of all ages from 7-97 y/o to safely get involved in the shooting sports. We believe that everyone should be able to enjoy the sport and gain confidence and knowledge with zero judgment. Everyone has to start somewhere. Here at 37 PSR Gun Club we take the apprehension away with easy to learn skills taught in a non judgmental and fun environment. Husbands and boyfriends are not allowed to participate, just watch!

Our goal this year is to host a shooting match on the fifth Saturday of every month for women only called the Girls Gun Wild Match. It will involve shooting at steel targets with pistols or rifles or shotguns for a timed score. There are no divisions or age limits, just a good time at the range. In the middle of the match we will sponsor shooting clinics that will improve your shooting skills.

We have noticed over the years that when we hold a class and the women are involved it is more relaxed and that actually women are better students. Women come into the class with no bad habits or pre-conceived notions or attitudes. And most of all, women listen to the instruction and actually do what is asked and perform as well, if not better than men at the same level. We have also noticed that women are not catered to in the shooting sports, it is perceived as a testosterone filled man dominant sport and we want to get away from that. We have also noticed that when couples come to the range, the husband or boyfriend brings out the biggest handgun or rifle and expects the woman to be able to adapt her hands and skills to his firearms. After the first shot the woman places the gun on the bench and says “I am done”. When we see this, we ask if we can have just five minutes with them and we go get our guns for them. After just a small amount of time with the woman we see great results and find that 99% of the time the woman feels more comfortable shooting than when she started. It should be encouraged that the women take her time and feel comfortable with the firearms and not overwhelmed when the shot goes off. We start out with smaller framed and lighter powered handguns and rifles and allow the woman to adjust to the recoil and blast over time. Not long after this, they are usually asking to shoot the big guns.
