Fourth Saturday

The Flat Branch Ranch Cowboy Club is soon to be a S.A.S.S. affiliated Cowboy Action Shooting Club. Matches are held on the fourth Saturday of each month beginning at 9:00 am at Range 37. We emphasise traditional or movie-based cowboy dress and authentic or replica firearms of the period. Safety is the primary concern at every match with a mandatory safety meeting held prior to each event.

Cowboy action shooting matches are family friendly affairs. The targets are made of steel and are engaged by the shooter in scenarios which place the participant in a historical or movie related situation. Each shooter then engages the targets in a prescribed manner using two single action pistols, a pistol caliber lever action rifle and a historically accurate shotgun i.e. side by side, 1897 pump action or 1887 lever action. Lead bullets and shotgun ammo in size 7 1/2 shot or smaller are mandatory. Many shooters increase the historical accuracy, challenge and fun by shooting black powder cartridges or cap and ball pistols.

Shooters are known by an alias and compete in categories that are age, shooting style and dress based.

Becoming a member of The Flat Branch Ranch Cowboy Club has several advantages: Member's pay a reduced match fee, and members also recieve discounts on range fees and training classes at Range 37. To become a member you must fill out an application form and agree to the stipulations printed at the bottom.

4th Saturday matches begin at 0900 with mandatory safety meeting at 0845.
Registration begins at 0800.
